senior
people
We offer senior people a winning combination: the chance to work on some of the most exciting engineering projects around today, support for individual career paths and the chance to lead and inspire.
Ramboll Whitbybird is renowned for its versatile, innovative approach and a strong emphasis on sustainable development. We are committed to innovation, which we treat as a business process.
To support this approach, we look for leaders rather than managers in our senior appointments — people who are motivated to make a difference. We value good staff and can offer rewarding opportunities, a progressive work environment and the potential for career development.
Working with us brings the chance to:
— Work on brilliant engineering and ground-breaking projects, big and small.
— Have the freedom to succeed and the freedom to make decisions.
— Work with the best new graduates and strongly influence their coaching.
— Work overseas, short and long term, and in the wider Ramboll organisation.
As an award-winning employer, all our people are given the facilties to develop personally and professionally — as engineering professionals and as managers. The programme for senior people offers training tailored to individual need and continuing CPD support.
Ramboll Whitbybird is a fast growing practice, part of the Ramboll Group, with offices around the globe. We can consistently provide opportunities for experienced people in all fields of engineering and engineering-related professions.
We are always looking for
talented people who can contribute to the growth and development
of the practice.

Kate, 29, has been with us longer than her age suggests — her first encounter with the company was for work experience while she was still in Sixth Form. She returned for summer placements throughout college and joined us full time on graduation, achieving Chartered Engineer status in October 2007.
So far, she's never been tempted to move on. It's not just the opportunities at Ramboll Whitbybird — the range of our projects, nationally and internationally — that continues to make her career satisfying. It's also our working culture.
"There's a sense of openness that means you never stop increasing your understanding. You can discuss anything with anybody — the guy next to you, your boss, his boss, a director, someone from another discipline ... The people who work here are interested in engineering, rather than in a nine-to-five job."

"There may be other places to work — but here it's active, interesting, challenging ... it's a good place to be, and to grow."
Mohsen, 43, says he was already "very happy" where he was when we approached him to discuss opportunities at Whitbybird. We argued that setting up a specialist team for us would take his career to a different level. Three years on, is he glad he made the leap?
"It's been fantastic! From only me, there are now eleven in the department — and the portfolio of jobs just keeps expanding."
M  A  R  Y  'S    S  T  O  R  Y  . . . .
"I was lucky to work for someone who is a fantastic, generous teacher — who has an enormous amount of knowledge that he is
always willing to share."
Mary, 38, was looking for a career change when she came to us as a temporary secretary. After landing a permanent job as PA to two directors she moved on to assist our Company Secretary, who encouraged her to study for chartered secretary status. It took hard work and some long hours, but in 2007 she qualified fully in her new role.
"Working at Ramboll Whitbybird, I have gained a professional qualification I would not otherwise have had. Now, I try to encourage others — if you're bored in your role, take a good look at your skills and you'll see, there's so much more you can do."
T  E  R  R  Y  'S    S  T  O  R  Y  . . . .
"I came to Whitbybird from a contractor's. They put me straight into two meetings on the first day and it was, 'Welcome to the company!'"
Terry, 36, cheerfully admits that much of his career happened by accident. At 15, he thought he'd get a job in a drafting office and ended up doing a B-tech instead. He liked it so much he skipped A-levels and went straight into his degree. He then spent six years in the construction industry before he heard about us.
"There are always opportunities here for people who want to grab them. I've been here for nine years now and I'm running the biggest project we've ever done."
